Ingredients:
1/2 cup warm water (105-110°F)
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp active dry yeast
2 1/2 - 3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
toppings of your choice (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, etc.)
In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir until the yeast is dissolved and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add 2 1/2 cups of flour, olive oil, salt, and Italian seasoning to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, adding additional flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 425°F.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Place the dough on a pizza pan or a baking sheet.
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a little bit of space around the edges for the crust.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and toppings of your choice over the sauce.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
Serve hot and enjoy your deep dish pizza!
